Jen England
Jen England, Head of Partner Development at Food Rescue Hero™, oversees and nurtures the growth of 15 food rescue organizations across North America who make up the Food Rescue Hero Network. Jen spearheaded Food Rescue University, a teaching, mentorship and certification tool accessible to all Food Rescue Hero Network partners. She hosts a monthly webinar series to help interested organizations and individuals learn more about how to launch a food recovery operation. As part of the founding team behind 412 Food Rescue, and director of food recovery operations, Jen learned first hand the complexity of running a food rescue. That’s why her team developed Food Rescue Hero, to address these time-consuming and complex tasks associated with day to day operations. Their solution worked, propelling its growth to a 3 million pound a year food rescue operation with thousands of volunteers in just 1 year. The Network's cumulative impact now exceeds 160 million pounds of food rescued and redistributed, equivalent to 133 million meals provided to community members experiencing food insecurity. Jen aims to expand the movement to 100 cities by 2030, to measurably make progress against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Jen serves on the board of the national organization #MEAction and is on the executive committee of the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council. Past board service includes the League of Young Voters, Best Buddies Foundation, Grow Pittsburgh New Leaders Council, and several board committees for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
