Before his role at Share Food Program, Steve Preston served in Philadelphia Mayor Kenney’s administration in multiple roles, including First Deputy Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer and Deputy Chief of Staff to Mayor Kenney, where he helped lead efforts to pass the City’s beverage tax. Preston also previously served in various roles focused on community organizing and politics, including Mayor Kenney's successful 2015 campaign, NextGen Climate New Hampshire’s efforts to re-elected Senator Jeanne Shaheen in 2014, Organizing for Action, and the Obama Campaign in 2012.
