Dr. Lara Ramdin
Lara is a trailblazer in R&D/product development and has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Unilever, Estee Lauder, Molson Coors Beverages Company and the Dole Sunshine company. Her passion for innovation is only matched by her dedication to advocating for young women in STEM and creating a more equitable food system for all.
She is a fervent advocate for the "zero food waste" movement, making it her personal mission to educate consumers on creating value from food waste and empowering them to make healthy food and nutrition choices for a longer life-span. Her dedication to sustainability demonstrates a commitment to creating a better and just world. As a board member of the Upcycled Food Foundation, Lara continues to play a significant role in building scientific understanding of upcycling and providing mentorship to UFF Fellows.
Dr. Ramdin is a seasoned professional in R&D/Innovation, with a reputation as a thought leader. She is frequently sought-after to share her perspective at conferences and through other media outlets, particularly in the areas of food, innovation, nutrition, and product design. Committed to working with school-based organizations, Lara is proud of her recent speaking engagements at SNIC 2023 and EXP Women in STEM Career Day.
Lara is a firecracker. She’s passionate and driven, never shies away from a challenge or a good debate. She jumps in headfirst and makes things happen, and her can-do attitude has served her well. She holds a BSc(Hons) in Applied Biology from Cardiff University and a PhD in Immunology from Southampton University. She is also a member of the Institute of Food Technologists.
