Food Rescue Hero is thrilled to announce that Potluck Food Rescue has joined the Food Rescue Hero Network! Now, residents in the Little Rock region can use the Food Rescue Hero app or visit potluckfoodrescue.org to join the mission of rescuing food and fighting hunger in their community.
As of the most recent data released by the USDA in 2023, Arkansas ranks at the top of the list of U.S. states for rates of food insecurity, with 18.9% food insecurity among its residents. In comparison, the nationwide average was 12.2%.(1)
“Arkansas is #1 in food insecurity in the nation. We should be using every tool available to see to it that good quality edible food makes it to those that need it most and does not end up in the landfill!”
Because of this need for food access and distribution solutions, we are so excited to announce that Potluck Food Rescue, located in Little Rock, AR, has launched the Potluck Food Rescue app, powered by Food Rescue Hero – available for download today!
As the 21st partner to adopt Food Rescue Hero’s technology, Potluck Food Rescue will have access to cutting-edge tools to coordinate food rescues, manage logistics, and report on their progress, all aimed at reducing food waste and supporting those facing food insecurity in the Little Rock community.
“Potluck Food Rescue is excited to add our name to the growing list of partners in the Food Rescue Hero network. We have been looking for an app solution for more than seven years. This technology will expand our impact into areas we struggle to reach with our existing fleet and expand our food recovery access into the “off hours” we have been missing due to a lack of staff.
Potluck will celebrate its 35-year anniversary in 2025. I can’t think of a better way to move our organization into the future.”
– Sylvia Blain, Chief Executive Director, Potluck Food Rescue
Potluck Food Rescue’s efforts will bring vital resources to the community. We’re honored to support Potluck Food Rescue in bridging the gap between food waste and food insecurity and look forward to the incredible impact they’ll make.
