Food Rescue Hero is happy to announce that We Don’t Waste has officially joined the Food Rescue Hero Network and launched their app called “We Rescue”!

The Denver- and Boulder-based food rescue organization is the seventeenth partner to join the Food Rescue Hero Network by adopting use of their proprietary technology to coordinate food rescues and maintain detailed reporting.

As many as 1 in 3 Coloradans are experiencing food insecurity — a rate that is even higher for people of color and households with children. Founded in 2009, We Don’t Waste is now one of the largest food recovery organizations in Colorado.

“I started We Don’t Waste with just a Volvo and a belief that the actions I made in my own community could impact the world.”

- Arlan Preblud, Founder of We Don’t Waste

Their organization works to reduce hunger and food waste by recovering quality, unused food from the food industry and delivering it to nonprofit partners. Since 2009, their organizations has coordinated rescuing and redistributing 200M servings of food.

“We prioritize rescuing perishable items such as fresh produce, lean proteins, and dairy products. Not only do these foods have a shorter shelf life, but their production has the greatest impact on the environment. As an added benefit, we’re able to provide families and individuals with fresh foods, which can be very difficult to access, particularly for families living in food deserts.”

Food Rescue Hero is proud to support We Don’t Waste in their continued efforts to reduce food waste and food insecurity in their surrounding community, and looks forward to celebrating the expanded impact on Denver and Boulder communities as a result of We Don’t Waste’s important work.
